Quinta da Palmeira – Country House Retreat & Spa

From SPA van Luso in Curia

Near the majestic Buçaco Forest are the Luso and Curia Hot Springs, making this a region with everything you need to make your stay truly enjoyable.

On the eastern slopes of the Buçaco Mountains lies the Termas do Luso, whose spring produces the best-selling mineral water in Portugal. The property dates back to the 19th century, but the water's therapeutic properties were already known a century earlier. The original buildings, along with a new spa, make this a privileged wellness center.

About 15 km from Luso is the Termas da Curia, which offers an equally extensive range of health and relaxation options. Here, you can enjoy the Belle Époque atmosphere evoked by the early 20th-century buildings. In addition to the hot springs, there are also many charming buildings, an artificial lake with a circumference of approximately 1 km, a fitness trail, and tennis and golf courts. Everything for a healthy lifestyle!

Besides the water, this region, known as "Bairrada," is also famous for its wines and gastronomy. The most famous specialty, roast suckling pig, attracts many visitors who come specifically for this dish. It's ideal paired with one of the region's white, red, or sparkling wines. To better understand Bairrada wines, you can visit local wine museums, such as the Bairrada Wine Museum and the Aliança Underground Museum. You can also follow the Bairrada Route and taste wines in the cellars of various producers.

Unmissable:

  • Drink water from the Luso springs
  • Rent a pedal boat on the lake at Curia Thermal Park
  • Try the Roast Suckling Pig
  • Toast with a glass of Bairrada sparkling wine
  • Visit the Fern Valley and the Cold Spring
  • Follow the National Forest walking trails

From Quinta da Palmeira – Country House Retreat & Spa, Luso and Curia are a 50- to 65-minute drive away.
